Description of Intercultural Competence in Overseas Students from Papua
Abstract
Intercultural competence is an individual's ability to interact effectively in dealing with cultural differences. This research aims to see a picture of intercultural competence among overseas students from Papua at Malikussaleh University. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research method. Data collection uses interview techniques. The results of the research describe intercultural competence in overseas students from Papua in terms of four components, namely, the knowledge component in the form of knowing the culture and regulations that apply in Aceh, the awareness component in the form of being aware of the differences in culture and regulations that apply in Aceh and Papua and the influence of these differences on interactions. with the environment, the attitude component in the form of implementing and respecting applicable regulations and being polite towards the local community, and the skill component in the form of building closeness and effective interactions by gathering together such as playing ball and sitting together in stalls and shaking hands when meeting local people
