Eksplorasi Stigma Kesehatan Mental dalam Perspektif Masyarakat Kota Kupang: Studi Deskriptif Kualitatif

Stigma kesehatan mental masih menjadi salah satu hambatan utama dalam upaya peningkatan kesehatan mental masyarakat karena dapat memengaruhi penerimaan sosial dan perilaku pencarian bantuan profesional. Meskipun berbagai penelitian telah mengkaji stigma kesehatan mental di Indonesia, kajian yang mengeksplorasi perspektif masyarakat umum dalam konteks sosial-budaya Kota Kupang masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi bentuk stigma kesehatan mental, faktor-faktor yang memengaruhinya, serta harapan masyarakat terhadap upaya pengurangan stigma di Kota Kupang. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan melibatkan tiga partisipan yang dipilih secara purposive. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dan dianalisis menggunakan model Miles, Huberman, dan Saldana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa stigma kesehatan mental diwujudkan melalui pelabelan negatif terhadap karakter individu, dipengaruhi oleh nilai budaya, religiusitas, dan identitas sosial yang berkembang dalam komunitas. Stigma juga berperan sebagai hambatan dalam pencarian bantuan profesional serta berkontribusi terhadap munculnya rasa malu dan internalisasi penilaian negatif. Di sisi lain, keluarga dipersepsikan sebagai sumber dukungan yang penting dalam menghadapi dampak stigma. Temuan penelitian menegaskan pentingnya penguatan literasi kesehatan mental dan pengembangan intervensi berbasis komunitas yang sensitif terhadap karakteristik sosial-budaya masyarakat Kota Kupang.
